Finnish design is inspired by the beautiful nature of Finland. Under the supervision of the Helsinki Art Museum (HAM), the exhibition will feature textiles by Marimekko and Finlayson, glass art by Kai Frank, ceramics and furniture designed and produced from the 1930s to the 1970s, as well as paintings from the same period. With approximately 250 artworks and 80 related materials, this exhibition will introduce the history of Finnish design, which has produced masterpieces that are loved throughout the ages.
フィンランドの美しい大自然からインスピレーションを得て生まれたフィンランドデザイン。ヘルシンキ市立美術館（HAM）監修のもと、マリメッコやフィンレイソンのテキスタイル、カイ・フランクのガラス工芸の他、陶磁器や家具など1930年から70年代にデザイン・制作されたプロダクトとともに、同時代の絵画などもあわせて展示する本展では、約250 点の作品と約80点の関係資料で、時代を超えて愛される名品が生み出されたフィンランドデザインの歩みをご紹介します。

Alvar Aalto, famous for his Altech chairs, Kaj Franck, creator of the long-selling "Teema" from Arabia, and Tove Jansson, creator of the Moomins, are among the artists featured. You are sure to find something new to love from these artists who are not so well known in Japan.

●Kaj Franck
The "Kilta" created by the Arabia Pottery Works is an enduring masterpiece that continues to be produced today as the "Teema" series. ●Maija Isola
She produced many colorful and large printed textiles for Marimekko. They are characterized by colorful patterns that reflect the new art scene of the time and also draw rich images from the natural world. She worked for many years at the Arabian Ceramics Factory, where she worked in ceramic art, especially on ceramic plates. In her early years, she created painted-like ceramic panels based on familiar motifs such as birds and butterflies, but later she shifted to an abstract, sculptural style using small pieces of ceramic.
